Dog Allergies
Dogs are the most faithful and beloved companions of human beings. That is the reason that most people prefer to keep dogs as pets. In reality, the pets become a part of the family and are treated just like family members. These affectionate pets, who are just like our children, also suffer from many kinds of ailments just like our own children. But, they are unable to convey their suffering and pain. They are almost like the small children who are not able to speak and explain what is wrong. And dogs, like other living beings which are mammals and most suffer from the same kind of ailments.
Dogs being mammals, suffer from allergies in the same way as human beings. But they are not able to express their problems to us. As all human beings do not suffer from the problem of allergy in the same manner, all dogs do not suffer equal from allergies. There are some breeds and over sensitive dogs that have allergies problems. It is only recent times that people have started realizing the allergy problems in dogs and have started taking measures to eliminate this problem. We have now started to find out the causes and the symptoms and providing the proper care and medications.
Causes of Dog Allergies
It will be quite surprising for all the dog lovers who have dogs as pets at home to know that the causes of dog allergies. They find nearly the same causes of allergies in dogs as those in human beings. Most of the dogs that have allergic tendency develop this problem from the food that they eat, just like humans. Like humans, the allergens which are present in their food adversely react after entering their body and cause the allergic condition. These allergens can be in the form of protein, fillers and fibers. Another problem, less care is taken in the ingredients and care in preparing dog food than the food that is consumed by human beings.
Other causes of dog allergies are dust mites which affect the dogs in the same way as it affects human beings. These mites can cause the same type of allergic conditions as those that are found in human beings. This is the reason that our home should be clean and free of dust so that we as well as our pets, do not suffer from dust allergy. These allergies make our pets as uncomfortable as us. Our pets develop the same type of itching and uneasiness as humans who suffer from these problems. If proper care is not taken and treatment is not provided then it can lead to other major diseases.
Types of Dog Allergies
The most common type of allergy that is found in dogs is the inhalant allergy. It is also known as atopic dermatitis. It has the same symptoms as hay fever in human beings. The difference in symptoms from humans being is that dogs do not develop breathing problem but start chewing their feet. Other types of allergies can be from fleas and those caused by food.
So, if you love your dog, start being more attentive to their problems and treat them as your young child who cannot speak and explain their problems to you.
